Sometimes in life, we go through hard things that rock our world and bring us to a place of uncertainty. We often stare at what we perceive to be the impossible in front of us and wonder how we will ever get past it. My advice to you: one step at a time, move forward. Do not look to your right or to your left. Do not look back, just move forward.
We have a choice to make. Keep looking back and take a chance on being drug back into whatever it is we have been delivered from, or move forward. Question. Why do we look back? We know that what is behind us is not good for us. We really do want better. So, why? Maybe we are missing what was comfortable. Or, perhaps we are afraid that what is ahead will be even worse than what we left behind. I can not speak for others, but I can tell you that I was afraid. Afraid of being alone and losing people I enjoyed relationship with and some I loved.
When I made the decision to follow hard after the things of God, and jump into whatever He called me to do, I was afraid that I would lose relationship with some people. And to be honest with you, I have. Yes, it has been hard at times and yes, it hurt, but I know what God has for me is so much better than what any person can give me. Do I miss the people I once partied with and had relationships with? Occasionally, but I know that I want to be in close relationship with my Savior more than with any person in the world, so, it is definitely worth the sacrifice. The truth is, some people we love are not good for us, even if they are good to us. Do not confuse the two.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
What things will be given to us? Whatever we need. I am trusting Him with everything in my life and not looking back on what I had or what I lost, because, for a child of God, there are much better things ahead. Move forward with faith and trust in Him, and do not look back. Do not let anyone or anything hold you back from what God has called you to do. Distractions will come, and sometimes they seem really good in the moment, but there are consequences that can be greatly devastating if we linger where God has not sent us.
Be bold, be strong and courageous, and move forward. "For nothing is impossible with God."
