"A yoke is a wooden bar that joins two oxen to each other and to the burden they pull. An “unequally yoked” team has one stronger ox and one weaker, or one taller and one shorter. The weaker or shorter ox would walk more slowly than the taller, stronger one, causing the load to go around in circles. When oxen are unequally yoked, they cannot perform the task set before them. Instead of working together, they are at odds with one another." www.gotquestions.org
I feel like I have been going in circles for a long time. Funny thing is, the relationship that caused me to feel this way was with a Christian man. So, why, did I feel unequally yoked? I have always thought this meant to not be in relationship with someone who is not a Christian. The word says "Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
I have known people who are "saved", meaning they have asked Jesus into their hearts and repented of their sins, but who are not walking in righteousness and still struggle with their unbelief. Is it possible that we as Christians can be unequally yoked with other Christians? Personally, I want to be in relationship with people who are as strong as I am spiritually because I am tired of going in circles! I do not want to have to pull someone along and never get anywhere. I want to move forward and do great things!
Just something to think about....
